But Ot Wasn’t All That Bad
64x82 cm / 25x32,2 in
Pencil and oil stick on paper, 2026
“But It Wasn’t All That Bad” explores the fragile boundary between lived experience, memory, and the stories we are asked to believe. The title carries the quiet cruelty of dismissal, where painful experiences are softened, questioned, or gradually rewritten. What once seemed certain becomes difficult to hold on to, leaving doubt where there was once clarity. The figure, turned away, is confronted by forms that press in and obscure her view. Like returning memories, they resist being dismissed. Between doubt and recognition, the work traces the moment before departure—when looking back is no longer possible, and turning away becomes a form of survival.
